Activity Timeline
The goals of ACEC include:
- Through ACEC, education providers, including K-12 and post-secondary institutions, will partner with business and industry, local governments, and community agencies in a coordinated way to increase efficiencies, streamline processes, and ensure a link between education and the employers in and around the county.
- Through ACEC, all Adams County education providers will work together to develop and implement a collective solution and look for ways to jointly secure resources, combine programs, establish cooperatives and develop outreach efforts to assist each other in accomplishing the central mission.
- Through ACEC, programs will be designed that are inherently sustainable both in planning and funding resources.
- ACEC will establish an articulation with the business community throughout the county in order to create a better transition from school to work.
- ACEC will publicize its work and demonstrate the achievement of milestones on a regular basis.
Activities of ACEC will be focused to achieve these goals. These planned activities include:
- Develop academies of learning to further industry specific knowlege and academic relevance
- Align secondary and post-secondary curricula to support ACEC’s mission
- Track student movement and progress, and ensure appropriateness of instruction
- Articulate a personalized education framework for each student
- Correlate high school assessments with post-secondary readiness
- Develop family learning centers
- Coordinate an Education Conference Day to promote employment opportunities
- Establish ongoing communication to educators on county demographics
- Create and implement a marketing plan
- Create and implement a sustainable funding strategy
Through these activities, ACEC will enhance Adams County’s current and future workforce through academic skills development, career knowledge and exploration, and relevant work ready skills for all learner groups.
The activities will be managed by the executive director of ACEC. The executive director will obtain guidance from leaders in higher education, K-12 education, business and the community. The activities will be reviewed by K-12 superintendents and community college presidents who participate in the program.
These activities will generate a more highly skilled workforce, improve high school graduation rates and increase higher skilled student achievement for post-secondary training and/or college participation, thereby addressing the needs of employers in Adams County.
The activity will be funded in-part by the participating schools and school districts and Colorado enterprise zone contribution service fees. ACEC will pursue grants, federal appropriations and other fundraising activities to make the program sustainable.
