The Metro Denver WIRED Initiative Workforce Study
As part of the Metro Denver WIRED Initiative, a formal report of workplace competencies needed was produced by Developmental Research Partners.
In early 2006, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded the nine-county Metro Denver region a three-year, $15 million Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant. The Metro Denver WIRED Initiative's goal is to expand the pipeline of locally supplied highly skilled workers in the region's fastest growing industries:
Aerospace
Bioscience
Energy
Information Technology/Science
The Metro Denver WIRED Initiative Workforce Study gathered primary and secondary data in order to analyze the workforce needs and related issues affecting businesses within the four targeted high-growth industry sectors. The workforce report is attached below.

States' Career Clusters
The 5th Annual National Career Clusters Institute was held in Phoenix, AZ from June 11 - 13, 2007. The program offered sessions that were industry specific as well as general state implentation practice in creating career and technical education across the country in the 16 cluster areas.
Here is the link to the national site which posts many of the presentations from this meeting.
The 16 cluster areas will be the organizing mechanism used for the 2007 Career Expo at the Denver Merchandise Mart November 13, 2007. This should help support local programs of study aligned with this national organizational structure and help students see a more direct connection between their work at school and the corresponding careers that are available to them in their areas of interest.
